The Spirit of Carnival in Edmonton - CariWest 2024
I’ve been living in Edmonton since 2022, yet I didn’t have the opportunity to make it to CariWest until August 2024! I don’t know why it took me so long, especially considering that I grew up in Jamaica where Carnival is such a significant aspect of the vibrant annual party culture.
I’m really glad that I finally went, and I’m eagerly looking forward to the celebrations in 2025. These are some of my best pictures documenting an event to date, and I absolutely love how much the colours popped in each shot! It was truly a rich and captivating display of colourful, bright costumes alongside a variety of cultures all mixing together to create an unforgettable experience!
It was also my first time heavily using my Nikon ZF with a 28-70mm F2.8 lens after making the switch from my Fujifilm X-T4. Here are some of my favorite pictures from the event—enjoy!
